Uninsured Patient Class Action Settlements

Our law firm is proud to announce the first settlement in the nation in class action litigation alleging that a nonprofit hospital system overcharged the uninsured. This came against Providence Hospital System. We are also pleased to announce the first class action certification in the country in another such case, this against Oregon's Legacy Health System, and a subsequent settlement in that case. The lawsuits allege that these hospital systems unlawfully discriminate against uninsured patients who are to benefit from charity care by charging them inordinately inflated rates, and that these rates are far higher than rates they charge insured patients for the same services.
