Injured by ReNu Contact Lens Solution?
A link has been alleged between an eye fungus called fusarium keratitis and ReNu with MoistureLoc, a contact lens solution made by Bausch & Lomb that was pulled from store shelves on May 15, 2006. Federal health officials are investigating whether or not ReNu is the cause of fungal eye infections that can cause potentially severe eye infections that can scar the cornea and blind its victims, according to news reports. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating whether more than 100 reports of fusarium keratitis in patients across the country since June 2005 are linked to ReNu. Symptoms of the infection include blurry vision, pain or redness, excessive discharge, and increased sensitivity to light, news reports state. Eye-drop treatment can last two to three months. Renu with MoistureLoc was introduced in the fall of 2004 and accounted for $45 million in revenue for all of 2005, media reports say.
