Withdrawal of Dangerous and Defective Drugs

Drugs and medical devices are sometimes recalled or withdrawn from the market because they are defective and are dangerous to those who use them. Rezulin, a drug used for diabetes, is a recent example of a dangerous drug that was withdrawn.

A recall or withdrawal can occur because the Food and Drug Adminstration has ordered it, or because the manufacturer has decided to do so voluntarily.
