PPA and Strokes
PPA (phenylpropanolamine) was the active ingredient in many over-the counter cold medicines and appetite suppressants. The Food and Drug Administration asked drug makers to remove PPA from its products in November 2000 after data showed that PPA increases the risk of strokes. PPA was found in cold medications such as Dimetapp, Robitussin, Alka Seltzer Cold, Comtrex and Triaminic. If you had a stroke after taking an over-the-counter cold medicine or appetite suppressant, or developed another injury from a drug containing PPA, please call our lawyers or e-mail our law firm by submitting a Potential Case Form to learn more about your legal rights. |
