Class Actions

In a class action, one or more persons file a lawsuit on behalf of others who have suffered a similar loss or injury caused by the same wrongdoer.

Class action lawsuits are an effective and powerful way of obtaining a recovery for a collective group whose claims are typical of one another.  They are often utilized when individual claims are small.

Class actions are especially useful in situations involving consumer fraud, deceptive marketing schemes, unfair trade practices, and other unlawful commercial activities.

Our law firm successfully represented a group of over 150 Oregon vegetable growers in a class action lawsuit against a national frozen food processor.  We recently settled class actions on behalf of tens of thousands of uninsured patients who received treatment at Providence Health System and at Legacy Health System and who allege that they were overcharged.

We will also be seeking class action certification in a case against Providence Health System-Oregon for its alleged misconduct in failing to safeguard health information when it allowed an employee to store in his or her car the patient records of an estimated 365,000 patients, which were then stolen.

WLO&P's lawyers will evaluate whether your potential case may be suitable for class action treatment.
